Oak Gall Ink | ANNA HUGHES

£12.00

Created by Featured Maker Anna Hughes, these natural inks are created using tannin rich Oak ‘Galls’. The galls are small growths produced by the oak tree to protect itself and they are foraged from the woodland floor when they drop in Autumn. This deeply pigmented ink is permanent and colour fast and can be used for drawing, painting, writing and illustration.

Anna Hughes is a multi-disciplinary artist who lives and works in London. Her practice combines painting, sculpture, sound and horticulture. Her work draws upon her interests in the mystical and metaphysical properties hidden in materials, pattern and architectural forms to explore ideas of re-enchantment and alignment. She graduated with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Fine Art from the Royal Academy Schools in 2016, and a B.A.(Hons)degree in Textiles from Goldsmiths College in 2004. Alongside her practice, she teaches at Goldsmiths University and runs workshops in botanical inks, paper making, and casting. She is currently studying for a professional qualification in Horticulture and Landscaping from the RHS.
