Here Comes the Sun!

Join us for a Spring Festival organised in collaboration with Bexley Brewery!

The event will be showcasing Live Music from local bands and musicians, with a pop up Beer and Cider Bar in the North Room by Bexley Brewery and Workshops on the Friday and Saturday for people of all ages to get involved with!

We will be unveiling our greenhouse inspired by Florence, the Old Library’s librarian from 1915 -1939 and pioneer of the Travelling Library Van and Erith Museum. History talks will be running on the Saturday on the hour, from 2 - 4pm, to find out more about Florence, and the task of building the greenhouse!

A full event timetable is on its way, but timings of the weekend are as follows:

Friday - 25th March
17:00 - 22:00

Bexley Brewery pop-up at The Exchange OPEN from 5pm + Live Music starts at 7pm.

5pm - Bexley Brewery Beer + Tasting (£12) - book via Becky here!
- Join Cliff, co-owner of the family business that is Bexley Brewery. You'll leave the workshop having learnt more about how beer is made, history of the brewery and what makes Bexley Brewery Beer so delicious!

Saturday - 26th March

10:00 - 13:00 - Creating a Wildlife City Workshop with Men in Sheds. FREE
- Help the Men in Sheds team decorate bird boxes and insect hotels to be used next door in the Riverside Gardens! This is a family friendly workshop!

10:00 - 13: 00 - Think Green Gardening Workshop with Louis, Gardener Lead at The Exchange. FREE
- Learn how to collect seeds from fruit + veg to be planted in your garden at home!

10:30 - Family Cycle - Meet at The Exchange with your bike! FREE - More info HERE
- Beginning at The Exchange, join some fantastic volunteers for a cycle ride towards Crayford... with (perhaps) a chance to see some local wildlife! - aiming to finish at 13:00.

11:00 - 13:00 - Design Workshop. FREE
- Join our weekly design sessions where we are currently exploring colour and how it enhances our designs that will be used collaboratively in our Print, Textile + Ceramics workshops.

13:00 + 15:00 - Candle Making Workshop with Old Bexley Soap (£25) - Book Here!
- The perfect Mother's Day gift doesn't exi- oh wait, it does exist! Join Paula as she teaches us how to make a beautiful hand crafted candle.

13:30 - 16:00 - Observing Nature through Book Making Workshop with creative educator Lauren Price. FREE
- This is a fantastic family friendly workshop, making your very own nature book to take home and carry on discovering local nature another time!

14:00 + 15:00 + 16:00 - The Life of Florence Barton Young History Talk. FREE
- Meet outside at our new 'Travelling Library Van' inspired greenhouse as we go for a history tour of the building, focusing on the legacy of Florence Barton Young, librarian and innovator at the old Carnegie Library!

18:00 + 19:30 - Bexley Mixology Cocktail Workshop (£22.15) - Book Here!
- Join the Bexley Mixology team as they teach us to create a YUM pornstar martini + strawberry mojito... Can the evening get any better?!

Sunday - 27th March

9:30 - Advanced Cycle Ride - Meet at The Exchange with your bike! FREE - More info HERE
- Join us for an exhilarating ride towards Greenwich! This ride is suitable for road bikes, and don't worry, the pop-up brewery will be open on your arrival back at The Exchange at 2pm.


10:00 - 13:00 - Spring Market at The Exchange. FREE
- Join us in the Town Square as the beautiful Exchange plants are launched for sale PLUS you'll find for sale garden accessories, other Spring themed crafts and more!

11:00 - 13:00 - Makers Flower Workshop. FREE
- Join one of our fantastic makers Liz, to make flower bombs for your own garden and have a go at carving potatoes to create your own printed creations!

11:00 - 13:00 - Textile Workshop - FREE
- A call to all crochet-ers or those who would like to learn! We will be making granny squares to be sewn together in a blanket to keep people warm in The Bookstore Terrace this summer!
