Ken Chamberlain, long-term Chair of the local history society, will give this illustrated talk to tell the story of the large, detached villa that was located in the centre of Erith, and which was purchased by the Erith Urban District Council and used as council offices for some 30 years. The grounds of the house were used to provide electricity, the fire brigade, a tramway system, swimming pool and a purpose-built library.
